(Day 189) A fortuitous foto

I guess you could use the word blistering to describe our weather this week - it's been around 36C/97F all week and more of this is expected for tomorrow (but we're not really complaining because we get almost those numbers, with a minus sign prefix, in wintertime).

I went out this evening to give our flowers a much-needed drink, and of course took out the camera since the sky was also looking interesting. And again I forgot to acclimatize the camera and lens. As I went to focus on an interesting thunderhead I noticed the problem. Despite wiping the lens a couple of times the fogginess persisted. Recalling a past experience I then focused on a vine climbing up a balcony support beside me and made the photo posted below. The outcome wasn't planned, but I'll take it.

Fortuitous indeed! Beautiful shot. Very monochromatic in such a gorgeous pastel green. That's a keeper, but then all of yours are.

@Scott - thank you Scott! I was surprised what some fog on the lens would do to the light - looks like it took out a lot of wavelengths and basically left white and green (not that there was a lot of other colour in the original scene).

Fortuitous - unplanned or unexpected. My new word which I had to look up, I've never heard that word before and now I know what it means. :-)

It's unreal how you get shots Rick, the fog or haze on your lens made for an astounding photo. I am extremely impressed, maybe more so because this was a totally unexpected outcome! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!

This photo is 'winterlike' ... it's very beautiful! It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that you would find something to shoot in 'Ricks Wonderland' ... Hope you have a wonderful weekend! It's a rather chilly evening in Brisbane this evening & it sounds like you will be in for a warm sultry one!

@darlin - glad I could help with the vocabulary (I'm fond of word play, alliteration, etc as is my oldest daughter - we look for $10 words; her latest was loquacious).

I wasn't quite sure what I had till I downloaded my photos - the thunderheads were very colourful but I found this one captivating. and fortuitous ;-)

Have a great weekend!

@Barefoot from Heaven - sometimes lady luck sits on my shoulder to help out ;-) Thanks Dag.

Ja, ik vind het even fijn om een paar nederlandse woorden te schrijven - dat doe je hier in Canada maar zo niet :)

Fijne weekend Dag! Thanks for the cool ones ;-)

@Katherine - you're right - it reminds me a bit of the winter setting of the movie Doctor Zhivago (remember that one ?).

We finally got a bit of rain this evening so things are cooling down a bit (to 28C). Hope you stay warm this weekend in Brisbane!

Have a lovely weekend.

@chasity - thanks Chas. I think our heat wave broke tonight - we've been at mid-90's all week and very dry; getting some rain now and temps are going back down to low to mid-80's. We'll send the heat your way ;-)

@S. Etole - yes, I agree; perhaps one of these days I'll try that on purpose!

@POD - thank you POD!

Often there are ways to be creative that are not planned. This is a great example and a beautiful effect.
